Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) registers suppliers on SAP Ariba. You submit a supplier self-registration request, SEC’s Vendor Management Team reviews it, and you receive an email invitation to create your Ariba Network account and complete SEC’s registration questionnaire. After approval, SEC can send a separate qualification questionnaire for your categories. SEC states there is no cost for registration, qualification, sourcing or contracting on Ariba.
Why SEC registration matters
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) runs power generation, transmission and distribution across the Kingdom. Its projects and operations need contractors, electrical and mechanical equipment, cables, transformers, spare parts, maintenance, IT, engineering and many other services.
SEC buys through SAP Ariba. Requests for quotation, tenders and contracts go to suppliers who are registered, and qualified for the right categories, in SEC’s Ariba system. If your company is not registered, SEC’s buyers cannot invite you.
How the SEC process works
SEC manages suppliers with the SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance Management module together with the Ariba Network:
| Stage | What happens | Who |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Self-registration request | Fill in SEC’s online Supplier Self-Registration Request form | You |
| 2. Request review | SEC’s Vendor Management Team approves or declines the request | SEC |
| 3. Ariba invitation | Approved suppliers receive an email with a link to register | SEC |
| 4. Ariba Network account | Create a free account, or log in with your existing one | You |
| 5. Registration questionnaire | Company, contact, address, bank, tax and category details plus documents | You |
| 6. Additional information | SEC may email you for missing or unclear information | SEC + you |
| 7. Approval | You are notified when your registration is approved | SEC |
| 8. Qualification questionnaire | Category-specific questions on capability, quality, HSE and experience | You |
Step by step
- Open SEC’s Supplier Self-Registration Request link (from SEC’s vendor registration page) and complete every mandatory field marked with an asterisk.
- Submit the form and keep the acknowledgement screen.
- Wait for SEC’s Vendor Management Team to review it. If approved, you receive an invitation email.
- Use the link in the email to sign up on the Ariba Network at supplier.ariba.com, or log in if your company already has an account.
- Complete SEC’s registration questionnaire and upload the requested documents.
- Answer any additional information request from SEC quickly, from the same registered email.
- After approval, complete the qualification questionnaire when SEC sends it for your categories.
- Keep your profile and certificates up to date in Ariba. To change an answer, revise the response and submit it again.
Contractors vs. vendors and manufacturers
SEC handles these groups through different teams. Its supplier manual lists:
- Contractors: LAQ-CRQ@se.com.sa
- Vendors and manufacturers: MVRQD@se.com.sa
Choose the right type in your request, because your questionnaire and qualification depend on it. Contact details can change, so check SEC’s current vendor registration page before writing.
Documents to prepare
SEC’s questionnaire shows the exact list for your category. A Saudi company should normally have these ready:
- Commercial Registration (CR) with activities that match your categories
- Chamber of Commerce membership
- Zakat and VAT certificates
- GOSI and Saudization (Nitaqat) certificates
- Bank IBAN letter in the company’s exact name
- Company profile with products, services and project references
- Latest financial statements
- ISO, HSE and quality certificates, plus catalogues and agency or manufacturer letters
- Contractor classification certificate (for contractors)
Already registered with Aramco on Ariba?
You can use the same Ariba Network account. One supplier account can connect to many buyers, so you log in with your existing credentials when SEC invites you. You still have to complete SEC’s own questionnaires: an Aramco registration does not register you with SEC. See our Aramco vendor registration guide.
Cost and timeline
| Item | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Ariba Network account | Free |
| SEC registration, qualification, sourcing and contracting | No cost, according to SEC’s supplier manual |
| Review time | Not published by SEC; depends on the request review, your documents and your category |
Complete, consistent documents and fast answers to SEC’s questions are what shorten the process.
Common mistakes
- Choosing the wrong supplier type (contractor vs. vendor or manufacturer)
- CR activities that do not cover the selected categories
- Expired Zakat, GOSI or Chamber certificates when SEC reviews the file
- Company or bank names that do not match the CR exactly
- Missing the invitation or information-request emails because they went to an unchecked inbox
- Creating a second Ariba account instead of using the company’s existing one

Frequently asked questions
How do I register as a supplier with Saudi Electricity Company?
Submit SEC’s Supplier Self-Registration Request form. Once SEC’s Vendor Management Team approves it, you receive an email invitation to create your SAP Ariba Network account and complete SEC’s registration questionnaire. Qualification for specific categories follows through a separate questionnaire.
Does SEC charge a fee for supplier registration?
No. SEC’s supplier manual states there is no cost for supplier registration, qualification, sourcing and contracting on SAP Ariba, and creating an Ariba Network account is free.
Can I use my Aramco Ariba account for SEC?
Yes, you can log in with the same Ariba Network account, because one supplier account can connect to many buyers. You still need to complete SEC’s own registration and qualification questionnaires.
How long does SEC supplier registration take?
SEC does not publish a fixed time. It depends on the review of your request, the completeness of your documents and your category. Fast, complete answers to SEC’s information requests shorten the process.
Who do I contact at SEC about registration?
SEC’s supplier manual lists LAQ-CRQ@se.com.sa for contractors and MVRQD@se.com.sa for vendors and manufacturers. Check SEC’s vendor registration page for current contacts.
Can a foreign company register with SEC?
Foreign companies can usually submit a request, but most supply and contracting work needs a Saudi legal entity with a CR. We can handle company formation and SEC registration together.
